  • 5 books that’ll make you swoon //What Dee Reads #1

I’m such a hopeless romantic and single. So books are my only company especially during the cold and lonely days. I’m being dramatic there but it does get lonely a lot. And what better way to celebrate Love by sharing some of my swoon-worthy and heartwarming reads. Today’s review and the first edition –What Dee Reads is dedicated to the sweetest and fluffiest reads guaranteed to melt your heart with all the love you can imagine.

#1 – Dating makes Perfect- Pintip Dunn

    Dating makes Perfect- Pintip Dunn

    Synopsis :

The Tech sisters don’t date in high school. Not because they’re not asked. Not because they’re not interested. Not even because no one can pronounce their long, Thai last name―hence the shortened, awkward moniker. But simply because they’re not allowed.

    Until now.

In a move that other Asian American girls know all too well, six months after the older Tech twins got to college, their parents asked, “Why aren’t you engaged yet?” The sisters retaliated by vowing that they won’t marry for ten (maybe even twenty!) years, not until they’ve had lots of the dating practice that they didn’t get in high school.

In a shocking war on the status quo, her parents now insist that their youngest daughter, Orrawin (aka “Winnie”), must practice fake dating in high school. Under their watchful eyes, of course―and organized based on their favorite rom-coms. ’Cause that won’t end in disaster.

The first candidate? The son of their longtime friends, Mat Songsomboon―arrogant, infuriating, and way too good-looking. Winnie’s known him since they were toddlers throwing sticky rice balls at each other. And her parents love him.

If only he weren’t her sworn enemy.

Review : Ah i love love and happy endings and this book is just a perfect dose of it with a huge scoop of banter to the mix
I didn’t know what to expect reading this book but very quickly the writing, food, family relationship and friendship sucked me in even more than the romance itself
I particularly love reading Winnie and Matt’s friendship before it turned into love it was so beautiful to watch
I’d definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for their next read and also looking for something light and fluffy to get back into reading. This book is perfect for getting out of a reading slump.

    #2 – Together Apart- Erin A. Craig

    Synopsis:

A collection of original contemporary love stories set during life in lockdown by some of today’s most popular YA authors.

Erin Craig “delivers” on a story about a cute pizza delivery boy, Auriane Desombre captures a girl trying to impress her crush on TikTok, and Bill Konigsberg takes readers along on daily walks where every step brings two boys closer to love. There’s roommates-to-enemies-to-something more from Rachael Lippincott, a tale of a girl with a mask-making business and her potentially famous crush from Erin Hahn, and a music-inspired meet cute from Sajni Patel. Brittney Morris sparks a connection with the help of two balcony herb gardens, Jennifer Yen writes an unconventional romance that starts with a fortune reading and a take-out order, and Natasha Preston steals hearts when a girl meets up with the boy next door in a storybook oak tree.

Romantic, realistic, sweet and uplifting, TOGETHER, APART is a collection of finding love in unexpected places during an unprecedented time . . . each with the one thing we all want: a guaranteed happy ending.

Review : Together Apart is a collection of short stories sharing people’s take on Corona and finding love in the most creative and swoon worthy way – I wish my Indoor stay could be this way but okay -How we’re apart but we can still connect with others as well.
I loved every story in this collection and can’t even pick a favourite because they’re all so swoon worthy and my little romantic heart just can’t get enough
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for their next read and also looking for something light and fluffy to get back into reading. This book will melt your way into reading guaranteed

#3 – The Code for Love and Heartbreak-Jillian Cantor

In this contemporary romcom retelling of Jane Austen’s Emma by USA TODAY bestselling author Jillian Cantor, there’s nothing more complex”or unpredictable”than love.

When math genius Emma and her coding club co-president, George, are tasked with brainstorming a new project, The Code for Love is born.

George disapproves of Emma’s idea of creating a matchmaking app, accusing her of meddling in people’s lives. But all the happy new couples at school are proof that the app works. At least at first.

Emma’s code is flawless. So why is it that perfectly matched couples start breaking up, the wrong people keep falling for each other, and Emma’s own feelings defy any algorithm?

Review: I honestly didn’t know what i was getting myself into with this book but the cover was looking fine so i downloaded and was blown away. All my nerds and Ya lovers this book is for you.
I’m always scared of reviewing books i love because i might end up spoiling it for you but I’ll try to review it best as i can
So THE PLOT. I loved how progressive the book was and the growth that came with it especially with Emma our main character. I loved that other themes were explored and not just the romance which came well in the ending which was just amazing.

#4 – The Upside of Being Single – Emma Hart

    The Upside of Being Single

Review : Whoever said to never judge a book by it’s cover has never met this book then and why do i always blindly walk into books with just their cover and end up enjoying it soo much. Wish i could say the same for other areas of my life.
So let’s talk Upside of being single. This book is singlehandedly the reason my siblings kept looking at me funny because of how hilarious it is. I loved how fast paced this book. Such a quick read but guess who kept dragging it. That’s right Me.
I loved Mellie our main characters and the relationship she had with her friends and Jake. I’d definitely recommend this book looking for something quick. Fast-paced. Yet hilarious and enough to put you in all your feels.

#5 – You only live once – Maxine Morrey

    Synopsis :

When Lily’s husband dies, she moves to the edge of a tiny village, settling into a solitary life, her only real company her brother and his family. A quiet life becomes her safe space, with no risk of getting hurt.

When her brother offers her spare room to his oldest friend, Jack, Lily’s reluctant – but knowing how much she owes her family, can’t say no.

A lodger takes some getting used to but to her surprise, Lily begins to enjoy Jack’s company. Slowly but surely, Jack encourages Lily to step outside her comfort zone.

But taking risks means facing the consequences, and telling people how she really feels, means Lily might have to face losing them. But as the saying goes – you only live once – and being brave could mean Lily gets a second chance at love…

Review : Ah what a book
When it’s romance. You have my attention 110%. I love love and this book was so beautiful to read.

  • New Beginning-ish

Starting a new page can be daunting with the cursor taunting you as you struggle with what to write. So I’ll just jump right in and see how it goes, i may post this or i might not post it. We’ll see how it goes. But first,

This blog is a rebirth, starting over afresh and hopefully a capsule of my thoughts and favourite things. If you’re wondering rebirth of what. This isn’t my first blog. I had another Belleofalltrade that was my baby for the longest time , until it wasn’t well until i let overthinking get into the way and i had to let it be but when i returned it wasn’t the same anymore. It just reminded me of all the reasons i shouldn’t be writing but i love writing so this is a clean slate and just creating content I’m happy about regardless.

“The right people will resonate with your blog. Keep creating content that you’re happy about and love. Create for you and you’ll help people in the process.”

    Dee❤

A saying i had to start telling myself when i started this blog. A reminder that i feel I’ll be telling myself for a long time…. but regardless

I’m excited to see about to see which direction this blog takes and to see the post that I’ll be putting overall I’m just excited. And I’m grateful you’re on this blog journey with me.
